Tip – 1: Restart The Computer

Easy yet efficient – restarting your computer will prompt it to stop each and every running task, software, and data procedure instantly. This way, the issue of your PC slowing down decreases massively when you open it again due to the free memory.

If we’re being honest, restarting your computer might not work on every front. However, as it’s the simplest and risk-free option, we’ll always ask you to do it first.

Tip – 2: Stop Heavy-Duty Programs And Tasks

Sometimes, your computer might slow down when it doesn’t have enough RAM, CPU power, or hard drive space to operate correctly.

Hence, to counter this issue, you can close such applications manually and check if your PC’s speed improves or not.

You may also open the “Task Manager” to learn about the programs that are consuming the most space. Once you’ve found out the problem, you can simply close the “notorious” ones from there. Hopefully, it will all work out in the end for you.

Tip – 3: Use An Optimization Software Program

If you don’t want to do the manual tasks at all, using an optimization software program will be the best-case scenario for you. For example, programs such as Iolo System Mechanic can help you find out the apps that consume a massive amount of RAM and close them accordingly.

It can also delete the junk files that are causing a sense of system instability and sluggishness. Finally, the system cleans and optimizes your PC automatically whenever the system is idle.

Sounds like a treat, no?

Tip – 4: Delete Large Files

If you have been using your computer for years, the storage of the same might include data like the following –

  • Offline web pages.
  • Setup log files.
  • Leftover data from program installs.
  • File compression.
  • Temporary data, and much more.

In case you keep them as is, they will start building up and make your computer or the RAM work much harder. Hence, make sure to delete them as soon as possible by following the below-mentioned steps.

  • Hover your cursor onto the “Windows Start” button and right-click on it. It will help you open the file explorer.
  • After opening, choose “This PC,” enter it, and write “size: empty” on the “Search” tab. This way, you will get files that have a size of 0 bytes.
  • Depending on your requirement, you can change the “empty” to “gigantic” as well. This way, you can find the correct files you are looking for.

Tip – 5: Clean Your Browser’s History

When you visit a website by using a specific browser, it will start storing small data and cache from the site. Besides, when a web browser is saving something in the history section, it also holds some data from there.

Thus, if you are not deleting the same regularly, this data will start piling up from scratch and slow your program a little.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of what’s been happening, you will still need to follow a few practices to improve the performance of your system. It includes –

  • Restart your computer regularly.
  • Keep the PC off for at least 6 hours regularly.
  • Permanently close software or application after you’re done using them.
  • Do defrags occasionally, especially if you have an HDD, chkdsk scans to take care of errors.

In most cases, these simple tips will take care of your issue right away. However, if they’re not working out in your case, make sure to go to a system engineer. They will find out the issues related to your PC and take care of them accordingly.
